Marty Oak Simper is a professional horse trainer and clinician. His prolific skills have advanced horses and riders to many championship titles. His horse training business, Marty Simper Show Horses was founded in 2001. Marty worked and apprenticed with such well respected trainers as Clark Parker, Larry Larsen, Mike Dunn and Bret Stone. His training program is well diversified. He currently operates and trains at Heritage Ranch & Stallion Station in Farr West Utah.

Marty was born in Salt Lake City Utah, but spent most of his childhood and preteen years in the Great Basin Nevada area also known Elko. Marty has always been intrigued with horses, gaining a winning spirit and work ethic from his parents who supported him in the rodeo arenas and show ring. Summers in Elko were spent roping, moving cows, branding and working with horses. Someone once made a comment that one of the reasons Marty knows and works so well with horses, was because first he was a cowboy and the rest came naturally after that. He has also greatly influenced by the philosophies of such icons as Tom and Bill Dorrance, Ray Hunt and Bill Van Norman. Through their philosophies he set many of his foundations for the methods he uses today in his training program.

Marty Simper works very hard to make sure he is currently involved in equine events and equine issues throughout the nation. He is currently an AQHA Professional Horseman, National Director for AQHA, current President Utah Quarter Horse Association, past Vice President Utah Quarter Horse Association, Board of Director for the Utah Paint Horse Club, Board of Director for the Utah Horse Council, past participant AQHA’S Exclusive Leadership Program, membership by invitation only, and is currently a member of AQHA Team Wrangler. Marty was voted AQHA Most Valuable Professional, presented by the Utah Quarter Horse Association 2007 through 2011 and again in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Marty has trained many horses and riders to championship levels, most recently the 2016 AQHA World Show.

Marty recently had a big change in his life, going from single to married. On January 28th, 2017, Marty married Jodi Simper. Jodi grew up on a ranch in Park Valley Utah. She is a passionate roper and has the same love for horses as Marty does.
